How does Laser Coring Work?

UltraClear laser drill out full thickness columns of skin using heat, effectively removing specific surface areas of skin tissue while heating surrounding tissue and stimulating collagen. The ablated thermal gradually contract by process of wound healing, contracting redundant skin and leading to wound contracture. While this is not surgical removal of skin, it is the only non surgical modality that reduces skin laxity while also improveing skin quality and texture.

How Long Does an Laser Coring Take? Laser Coring is usually performed as part of a Customised UltraClear™ Laser procedure with Dr Grant. Coring is only be performed on skin that requires and is suited to such as intensive procedure, and is always followed with a superficial ablative mode to improve skin healing and aesthetic results. . Skin Laxity is a common indication.

A full neck Laser Coring procedure may take 60 minutes, while an isolated body treatment for skin laxity may only take 20 minutes. Dr Grant also performs multi modal procedures, for example using injected treatments such as Rejuran , PRP or Biostimulators in the same session to enhance results

Is Laser Coring Painful? UltraClear®’s innovative MIRACL™ technology significantly reduces treatment pain, making it the most comfortable ablative laser on the market. However, Laser Coring is a very deep mode and requires oral and topical anaesthetic.

What is the Downtime for a Laser Coring ? Despite the fact Laser Coring is so advanced, it is generally tolerated very well, with the ablated cores settling in the first 5- 7 days after a face treatment. Expect redness, swelling, crusted skin, and discomfort for the first 5 days. During this period, there is a risk of infection, so you must be diligent with hygiene and post-care. After this time, small bumps are present at the treatment site which may last up to 8 weeks. The bumps will last longer on thinner skin, body/off facial areas and in older patients or patients with an impaired immune system. The skin will remain red, dry, and sensitive for a few weeks. Makeup or concealers can be applied after the skin has shed

When Will I Notice the Effects of Laser Coring? The impact of Laser Coring on the skin takes 2- 3 months to show, beginning as softer and tighter skin over time. The skin will continue to improve over the year. as collagen production increases and the skin remodels.

What Is the Recommended Treatment Course for UltraClear™ Laser? We recommend a series of 2 treatments spaced two months apart, offered as a package. We also schedule a maintenance treatment 1-2 times a year, depending on your skin concerns, lifestyle and expectations.

Who is the Ideal Candidate for UltraClear™ Laser Coring ?

Laser Coring can improve signs of advanced ageing such as deep lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin , skin laxity and gylcation/changes in skin texture that has not been achievable in the past.

Laser Coring has opened up a new avenue for my patients aged over 50 with significant skin concerns who want natural improvements in their skin without surgery.

Obviously, Laser Coring will not replace the indication for surgery e.g. for severe skin laxity or patients with surgical expectations - however these patients definitely benefit from the skin and textural improvements UltraClear™Laser delivers- no matter how much surgery you have, surgery does not improve the quality of your skin.

Consultation & Skin Preparation You must have an initial consultation to ensure your skin is suitable for treatment and to customise your treatment settings with Dr Grant. We will also spend time discussing post care and ensuring you have the knowledge you need to get the best outcomes from your treatment.

You will get a better result, with less downtime, if your skin is prepped on a good medical retinol serum and use SPF daily. If you have darker skin, Dr Grant wil prescribe you a tyrosinase inhibitor serum to use for 4 weeks prior to treatment, although the risk of post inflammatry pigmentation is much lower with Ultraclear compared to traditional ablative lasers.
