Fat Dissolving Injections
What is a Fat Dissolving Injections? Lipolysis, or fat dissolving injections, permanently destroy fat cells. Lipolysis injections are useful for reducing fat in localised areas such as the double chin, without surgery. The main ingredient of Lipolysis solution is deoxycholic acid, a natural compound secreted into our gut to improve digestion. Deoxycholic acid acts as a a biological detergent, breaking down fat. After injection, it works immediately and permanently, without scars or surgery. The deoxycholic acid used in fat injections is plant based, and not from animals or humans! We use a TGA approved injectable that has many studies supporting efficacy.
What can I expect during the procedure? The procedure takes about 20 minutes. If you have a beard- please come clean shaven. Some people experience discomfort - taking 2x ibuprofen tablets 20 minutes prior to your treatment can reduce this.
What are the side effects of Fat Dissolving Treatments? Redness, swelling, tingling, itching and bruising are common. This will settle over the next week and leave a firm lump which resolves over the next 4 -6 weeks. More serious concerns are rare but include include infection, nerve damage, allergic reactions and uneven results. Our doctors perform this treatment and have post graduate training in aesthteic medicine, which reduces these risks.
What is the Recommended Treatment Plan for Fat Dissolving Treatments? It depends on the severity of your concerns and your expectations. In general we recommend 3- 4 sessions done every 8 weeks. A single treatment will not have a significant effect. Allow 2- 3 weeks before an event in case bruising occurs. If you are planning for a big event such as a wedding, book 4 months ahead to ensure the best outcome.
How Long Does it Take for Fat Dissolving Injections to Work?
The fat dissolving process takes time- it takes 8 weeks for fatty deposits to slowly subside and 2-4 sessions to see results as the fat cells are reabsorbed by the body. A small minority (<1%) of people do not respond at all due to genetic differences.
Who is the Best Candidate for Fat DIssolving Injections?
