Perimenopause & Weight Loss Consultations

Dr Jemima Grant is a specialist GP with an interest Women’s Health and a genuine passion for helping women navigate issues around perimenopause and menopause. She has been practicing medicine for over 20 years and as a busy mum and perimenopausal women herself, she offers a unique perspective for women to seek evidenced - based information and support regarding the options available to women to treat symptoms of the menopausal transition.

Expect a comprehensive review of your medical history, concerns and management plan incorporating lifestyle, nutritional interventions and medications. This includes validated questionaries over time to assess your concerns over time. Dr Grant follow solid medicine principles and works alongside experienced Naturopaths, Diabetes Educators, Dieticians and health coaches to empower clients to make long term lifestyle changes and embrace positive habits to improve current health and prevent future disease.

Dr Grant prescribes evidence based TGA approved medication including contraception, “Body Identical” Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) , and weight loss medication such as GLP1 agonists (”weight loss injections”) where indicated. Jemima is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and a member of the Australasian Menopause Society (AMS).

Common concerns

  • Perimenopausal skin conditions such as exacerbations in acne, rosace or melasma, dryness, volume loss and skin laxity.

  • Perimenopausal and metabolic health concerns: including changes in your menstrual cycle, new onset anxiety or poor sleep, weight gain (especially abdominal), joint aches, flushing/sweating, changes in your libido, vaginal dryness and fatigue.

  • Difficulty losing weight - we offer holistic and evidence based advice for women struggling with excess weight and at risk of chronic disease. This includes medically supervised weight loss programe and after consultation may include oral or injectable treatment options to assist with weight loss. We work with a diabetets educator and health coach Karina Bronska to work on your diet, monitor your insulin, blood sugar and support you if you decide to use medications to improve your health. We also refer to exercise physiologists and health coaches to teach you how to exercsie safely to bulld muscle mass and support your weight loss journey.

Costs

  • Initial Consultation:

    • Perimenopause or Hormonal issue (e.g. PCOS): 60 minutes $450 (Medicare Rebate $197.90, Gap Fee $252.10). This consultation is best done in person, but can be done via telehealth if required. A rebate can be issued in person or via telehealth. Please complete screening paperwork prior to consultation.

    • Weight Loss: 40 mins $315 (Medicare rebate: $122.15. Gap Fee $192.85). This consultation must be done in person if you would like a medicare rebate. Alternatively, you can do the consultation privately via telehealth with no medicare rebate.

  • Followup Consultation: 20 minutes $210

    (Medicare Rebate $82.90. Gap Fee $ 127.10) - this can be done in clinic or via telehealth. Book this for 3 month and annual review. Please complete paperwork prior to consultation.

  • Brief Followup 10 minutes $105

    (Medicare Rebate $42.85. Gap Fee $62.15). This is only done via telehealth for folllowup or brief check in e.g blood test results or repeat script once you are stable on your medication.

Dr Jemima Grant provides evidence based options for women suffering from perimenopausal symptoms such as sweating and flushing, unexplained weight gain, cognitive symptoms and advice on general health measures for women to improve their health.

What to Do Before your Appointment: Consider tracking your symptoms such as menstrual cycle, weight, dietary intake, symptoms and medical history. If you think you are in perimenopause, the Balance- Menopause App, can be really helpful and emailed or printed out to use at your appointment.

Add on Consultations: Aesthetic Consultations or Skin treatments can be done during the same visit as your medical consultation- please tell us if you would like to arrange this and we will allocate extra time to your consultation. Please note, no medicare rebate apply to aesthetic consultations.
